This is the view from the parking lot at the visitors center at Red Rock Canyon about two weeks ago. I painted it from inside the car as the weather was very cold that day. After I finished it I went into the center and made three pen and ink drawings of the bighorn sheep exhibit. It was a very quiet and productive morning.

I painted this little watercolor last week while parked at the side of the road - the scenic drive in Red Rock Canyon. It is the view into Pine Creek Canyon in mid-morning light. The growing shadows on the Spring Mountain Range are a muted purple around 11 a.m. It was a beautiful day and unseasonably warm.

Sketchbook Pages

I painted this watercolor sketch while on the Nevada Watercolor Society paint-out this last Saturday. The paint-out was scheduled for 1 p.m. so the temperature had warmed up enough to paint outdoors. After we finished painting we had a very nice conversation and my painting partner that day - Sandy- allowed me to see her paintings. There were three of them and they all had a very calligraphic quality to them. It was a nice afternoon.

I recently read a wonderful book called 'The Creative License" by Danny Gregory and in his book one of the first examples he gives to jump-start you into drawing is to draw a bagel. So this sketchbook page is my hommage and thanks to Danny Gregory.
